WF : Sherbini 3-0 Gohar

WF : [1] Nour El Sherbini (Egy) 3-0 [2] Nouran Gohar (Egy)      11-7, 11-8, 11-5 (38m)

A Masterclass from the Princess today to be honest. As one of the top people of squash summarised : Nour way way too good, the end.

Seriously, the Nouran we saw yesterday and the Nouran of today are two different players. Yesterday, she was hitting the ball like no one else on the tour can, and never let Amanda take a breath, moving fast, accurate at the back and front.

Today, she seemed mesmerised, like a junior who would play in front of the big crowd for the first time. She couldn’t really moved, and kept on the backfoot most of the match to be honest.

As for Nour, she was calm, controlled, relaxed, attacking with poise, varying shots, angles, power, and height. After being blown away in the first game, 8/3 11/7 in 12m, she seemed to find her bearings in the second, 4/1, 6/2, but Nour in 2 hands, then rushed to the finish post, 11/8 in againt 12m.

Last game, Nouran didn’t let go and kept trying but Nour was just imperial in front of the court, 5/2, 11/5….

As for the stats, a pretty errorless game for both, 4 errors each.

Nour just too good. The end.

Nouran:

Losing is never a nice feeling, but I can’t really complain. I’ve had a great week here as usual, it’s a very special tournament to my heart. I’ve had my biggest wins here and thanks to CIB and Mr Abaza for making this tournament possible – without CIB I don’t think we would have been able to play this last year.

Thank you to Amr Mansi for putting the event on and making it impressive, the venue is unbelievable. PSA has done an unbelievable job with some surprises last week, so it was a lot of work and a great event and I was enjoying playing out there.

Nour :
“I’ve been playing Nouran for a long time now and at a Platinum event as the No.1 and No.2 it was going to be a tough match,

“She has been playing well the whole tournament and we’re two different styles, so I tried to bring my game more than her game and that was my plan today.

“She is the World No.2, so I always have to be ready. Every point she is fighting and never gives up, so I was making sure I won every point and not give up. I had to bring my ‘A’ game and I’m glad it was working today.”
