There were a few contacts during the match, but it’s never intentional when SJ bumps into me, she never means it, she is just a tall player.

I played really well in the first game, and I got really nervous then. I told Engy “what if I can’t play that well, what’s going to happen, am I going to be able to keep that level”… I always get uncomfortable when I play well.

In the second game, I started well but suddenly, I thought I wanted to be a shot maker, I wanted to be Karim Abdel Gawad, and I started to go for shots and I told Ali, I want to play a nick like Diego during the game, I started over doing it, I know, I know, there is no time for that, and when, it got to 8/8, 9/9! I’m lucky that I managed to put in a few long rallies at the end of the second game.

In the third game, she had nothing to lose, and was playing very well, I got a little bit nervous, and she elongated the rallies. At the beginning, she was going for too many shots and not a lot of them were going in.

But you know how I want to do well, the season has been up and down, I got a bit nervous again but I’m happy I managed to care for every single shot today. Really happy to be in the quarters.

I’m playing Gina Kennedy if things go according to the draw. A while ago, I would get the best 3 in the quarters and I would be very frustrated, wishing I could get a better draw, but at the end of the season, I started getting better draws, and I never took advantage of them!

We have a bit of a similar game, we are both hungry, so, very exciting to have the chance to play on the glass in Gouna again…
