Day Nine : Semi-Finals

No more split rounds as the eight remaining players took to the Glass Court tonight to determine who would contest the 2019 Finals.

First up Nouran Gohar followed up last night’s upset over Nour El Sherbini with a dominant win over France’s Camille Serme

Then in the first of two all-Egyptian men’s semis, Karim Abdel Gawad ended the run of wildcard Fares Dessouky, coming back from a game down and easing through to 10-0 in the fourth before clinching his second El Gouna final appearance.

The second women’s semi saw defending champion Raneem El Welily up against USA’s Amanda Sobhy – no five-setters of comebacks tonight as Raneem won in dominant manner toi guarantee two Egyptian champions.

Finally in a repeat of last month’s World Championship final, Ali Farag came from two games down to beat Tarek Momen, reaching the final for the second year in a row.
