R1: 12/10 Aly in the 4th against Auguste
Aly Abou Eleinen (EGY) 3-1 Auguste Dussourd (FRA) 11-8, 11-1, 9-11, 12-10 (53m)
Aly Abou Eleinen scored a win on day one as he beat France’s Auguste Dussourd in a closely contested match. The Egyptian led 2-0 but after a strong third by Dussourd, he threw some doubt into the occasion. Eleinen responded strongly to win 12-10 in the fourth and move through to the next round.
Aly : I’m very happy with today. Last week I played in the Manchester final, and I lost to Leo in a five gamer. I wish I would have done a few different things tactically, in terms of effort, I gave it everything I had, but tactically, I could have done better. I should have started off better than I did. I lost the first game 11/2. And that’s not the way you want to start in a final.
And it’s not easy to bounce back between tournaments. So I had a couple of days of recovery, and I’m very happy to get the win today against Auguste.
I started very well, 2/0. And I knew he wasn’t going to give in. He always fights until the end. He started off better in the third, and I wanted to stay relaxed and not panic. I kept pushing until the end, he closed that game.
And then, in the fourth, it was close, but I managed to attack a bit more to test his movement to the front, used the dead ball a little bit and it worked in my favour.
Of course, I’m still working with Hesham El Attar, he’s been my coach since I turn pro. And he’s been BRILLIANT, guiding me not only with things on the court, but also off the court, with my personality, how to approach the Tour, and how to deal with tough situations, with the ups and downs. So having him on my side has been unbelievable.
