R3: Hania on top, Nadine happy with her form.

[3] Hania El Hammamy (Egy) 3-0 Nadine Shahin (Egy)  11-7, 11-2, 11-5 (26m)

The score doesn’t tell you the whole picture. Nadine managed to get a few lovely rallies, and pushed Hania to actually run! The Gazelle made a few court sprints tonight, and although she was comfortable, she looked like she was happy to be a bit tested for her first appearance on the glass.

Nadine : I’m very happy I reached the third round.

Today I had to disregard the score and concentrate on the effort produced on there. It was about the effort the higher seed had to produce to keep the 3/0 score, I feel she had to work a lot.

I had nothing to lose, and I told my coaches today that I was going to fight for every single point, the idea was not to be able to walk at the end of the match.

I wish I was able to take a game off her, but I’m glad I’m back to my best level, and I just have to make sure I maintain this form.

Hania : The heat is definitely challenging. The conditions are very different and we’re not used to it; we play here once a year and it takes time to adjust and get used to the conditions, so first of all I’m definitely pleased to get through in this manner and in these conditions.

Nadine likes to run and get every shot back and I had to be ready to get the length and the weight of the shot right to die. I’m definitely pleased that I was able to do it and cut it a little shorter than expected.

It’s not been the season I expected. I expected much more from myself this season, but this is the last World Series event of the season and I’m focusing on playing my best, focusing on each round and getting the best out of me for each round.
