Alexandra Fuller (RSA) 3-0 Olivia Clyne (USA)  11-7, 11-8, 11-1 (27m)

A strong performance from the South African today, who was not at her best for the past two weeks I’m told, against Olivia that didn’t seem to feel that great either!

Olivia has been pushing a lot on her body recently, and the season has been very long…. Hope she’ll be ok soon.

I knew I had to be on the top of my game today, because at the moment she is playing really well.

We had a bit of a battle last year, so I wanted to put my foot down from the start, and I pushed it a bit further than I did last year.

It feels really good. I’ve been putting in a lot of work recently so it’s nice to see it paying off. It’s the last tournament of the season so I want to finish on a high rather than on a low. I was really happy with my performance.

It definitely gives me confidence as I move into the next round. It never gets easier and I think I’ve got Nour El Sherbini or Melissa Alves in the next round. I’m excited to be able to play on the glass court and hopefully it doesn’t rain! I’m happy to be in the next round.”
