“It’s been seven weeks since I last played on tour, but I felt good out there. Last time I played was the final of Windy City Open, so it’s been a while.
“It’s obviously tough to adapt to this court; the other courts I’ve played this year were indoor. To have that, as well as a tough opponent, is really tricky. She was World No.5 at some point, so to play in the first round is tough. But I’m really happy with my performance.
“I needed that time off after back-to-back tournaments. It was good to spend some time with my friends and family, try some new things and I’m really excited for the next few months.”
