PSA report
In the second match of the night, USA’s Olivia Weaver continued her fine form on the PSA Squash Tour to book a place in her fifth Platinum event semi-final in a row, beating Tinne Gilis in comfortable fashion.
The American looked sharp and focused from the outset in the final women’s quarter final and controlled proceedings from the words “0-0”. She maintained a strong T position and worked the ball into all areas of the court with precision and purpose to take the opener 11-3.
It was becoming clear that something was wrong with the body of the Belgian as the points rattled on in favour of the World No.4. Weaver showed no mercy and exploited this to win both the following games 11-1 and set up a mouth watering semi-final clash with first time Platinum event semi-finalist Amina Orfi after her stunning win over No.2 seed Nour ElSherbini.
Olivia : “I feel really good, I felt like I was moving so well out there tonight.
“It’s so hard playing Tinne, she’s a good friend and that’s never easy. It was also so difficult coming on after that match before us, we started a bit late and I really wanted to start well from 0-0 so I’m really pleased with my targets and to get past Tinne in three is something to be proud of.
“I think I’m just going to unpack from his match and I’m really excited to play Amina, we just had a great match in Australia. She just took out one of the greatest of all time, so she’s probably feeling very confident, and I’m really excited to go up against her again, and if I can play like I did tonight, then it’ll be a good match.
“I’m focused on myself, I focus on my squash, the rankings happen as they’re meant to. I try to control the controllables and just focus on giving it my all when I step out here every night.”
