QF: Liv so clinical against improved Gina 3/0

To be honest, it was a great match to watch. Gina really improved her attacking game, and she run as much as ever. Her work with Rodney Martin is obviously paying off.

Now, Olivia, advised by Khalifa, was on fire tonight, and made the court very big for her opponent…

Excellent start in the opener for the American, 3/0, 5/2, 6/3. Gina, playing her first match on the glass, settles down nicely, and levels, 6/6, 7/7, 8/8.

A huge rally at that point, Gina on the wrong end of it, and it’s the American 11/8.

12m game, 8 winners for Liv, only 4 for Gina.

The second is a bit more one sided to start with, 9/5, Gina gets back, but will bow 11/8 in 11m and the third is a high mountain for the English to climb, 11/5 in 10m.

Olivia : “I’m feeling great. Gina’s been playing great and is in great form. It’s always hard to play a close friend. She’s not only a brilliant squash player but also an amazing person. It’s hard to step on court and put your game face on to play well today.

“I’m happy with how I managed to find my targets and get in front of her on the court.

“I can’t wait to play Nour. She’s obviously an amazing player and has played on this court many times. We played about six weeks ago and I lost out in a tight one in Houston, but I really enjoyed the match. I’m really looking forward to getting some revenge from that.”
