R1: Farida working on the mental side against Salma

Farida Mohamed (EGY) 3-1 Salma Hany (EGY)  11-13, 11-9, 11-6, 11-2 (36m)

Farida

Surprisingly, today was a bit more interesting and challenging, but with no pressure on myself.

I tried to look at that like a bigger picture. I started working with Danny Massaro about a week ago, and I’m trying to adapt to his training advice. I’m taking every match as a step to a bigger goal, so the pressure for each match is now less. Today I tried to put in place some of the mental tips he gave me, when the pressure was too high, and I felt challenged at times, I just tried to tell myself just one word, just focus on one thing, and elongate the rallies till she was the one to force it. Which is totally different from my normal game. I’m always the one that is forcing the shot in the tin!

I also enjoyed the momentum when I changed from slow to fast, and I’m really excited!

I’m playing Olivia, I played her 3 or 4 times, only got one win. I feel good playing against her, she is a very good player and she is a fair player, there is only squash happening on the court, so I can focus more on my game and play better…
