R1: Very close 3/0 for Joel against Juan

[5] Joel Makin (WAL) 3-0 Juan Vargas (COL)  11-8, 11-9, 11-9 (55m)

Joel

It was properly hard.

I had done well against him the last few times, I beat him in hard matches when the score didn’t look like so…

He came in much more attacking today before he sat back a bit and let me choose when I want to attack, and he really took it to me today.

He is working hard, he is improving a lot. He is playing with good players and he caused me problems today.

There is a lot going on at the moment this season. My season has been a bit messed up, it’s all been going on, injuries, illness, but that’s professional sport and you’ve got to get on with it. So that’s fine, I had a lot of good years.

This year has been disrupted. It would be nice to finish the back end strong, as there is plenty more left in the legs, and in the mind!

I’m feeling good, it would be nice to have a good push this week, there is the British, the Worlds and the World Tour Finals to go, three big events, biggest prize money on the Tour, so good time to be coming back into form. Can’t complain…
