R2: Paul having to run a lot to contain YowNg

[2] Paul Coll (NZL) 3-0 Eain Yow Ng (MAS)  11-7, 11-2, 11-8 (47m)

Well… The score DEFINITELY doesn’t tell you how HARD those two worked! The first game alone is 17m, the next two, 12m and 12m.

I hadn’t seen Yoz play that relaxed for a long time. It reminds me when he arrived as a World Junior on the Tour. Inventive, sharp, varying the height beautifully, and making his squash very hard to read.

Paul played his part to perfection today, really not giving any easy point, any easy shot to the Malaysian. He ran a lot, and ran, and ran, and then, found a lovely winner….

Funny to note that in the second, not a single winner was played from the first rally to 7/1. Only strokes or errors…

I loved the third, me, it was fun to watch, light squash, moving fast and freely, lovely shots to the four corners… Squash I truly love…

Paul : “He’s a class player.

“We’ve played each so many times now on tour. It’s always a battle and he fought right until the end – even when match ball down, it shows his character this evening.

“Playing on the glass in the last round definitely helped me out. The more you play, the more you get used to it. It’s a slightly warmer day today than the other night, but I felt good out there.

“Youssef is tough. He’s a fighter, so it’s going to be a hard one.”
