R2: Paul closes the night in a long 3/0 against Greg
[3] Paul Coll (NZL) 3-0 Greg Lobban (SCO) 11-7, 11-5, 12-10 (60m)
First game, 17m for 11/7. Second game, 15m for only 5 points and the last game, 21m for 12/10, Paul clinching the match on his 4th match ball.
So many decisions, video ref, reviews, stoppage. Greg seemed to feel that Paul was in the way a lot tonight, and Paul was not happy about all those let asks. Nothing out of normal really, but a bit too many breaks to make it a truly enjoyable match for the spectators.
I think Paul won’t be happy with the way he played tonight, too scrappy, too messy. But it’s a good wake-up before playing the new kid on the Squash Block, Mr Zakaria. I remember Paul playing a young kid a few years back, Mostafa Asal I think he was called, in BlackBall, in a CLASSIC.
What ever happened to him?….
“Oh yes” 💪

Paul : “I thought I found my length pretty well. There was some scrappy situations around the middle that I’d like to clean up before my next match. I wasn’t taking the ball in quite as well as I’d like but overall pretty happy.
“This is the first time that we’ll play with Zakaria. I believe he’s going to go into the top 20 for the first time, the second youngest ever to so it so that’s obviously really impressive. He’s young and hungry so no doubt he’ll throw everything at me. I’ll go back and look over some of his matches and figure out a plan.”
