R1: Gina 3-0 SJP

Another “silly” first round… oh well…

SJ got stronger as the match went on today, and she is a bit unlucky not to grab the third one, she deserved a reward for the hard work! She save 2 match balls, but had to bow 12/10. The score in the first two games doesn’t reflect the intensity of the encounter.

Gina : When I saw the draw, and that I had SJ, I went OH NO. With the draws these days, when you are top 8, you can play anybody from 9 in the world to 32 in the world. It’s crazy.

There are players that are ranked higher than her, but she is so hard to play, I respect so much, she has been my English captain all my career, and she is retiring at the end of the season, so I didn’t really want to play her again before she retires. I don’t like to get in that zone where you get into the competition mode.

Getting that match in 3 is really good for me, it’s really going to sharpen me for my next match against Farida who had a good win. Having SJ before that match is perfect for me, although I really didn’t want to play her at all, but I had to push so hard, and that’s good for the next round.
