R1: Tough, very tough for Tinne against Katie, 3/1

[5] Tinne Gilis (BEL) 3-1 Katie Malliff (ENG) 11-8, 11-9, 10-12, 11-7 (47m)

I just love watching that young lady play. Katie Malliff is one of the up and coming talents coming from England. “La Nouvelle Garde”, as we say in French.

I believe in her, not only her talent, her skills, but she has that “Nick Matthew” quality, that “Mo” quality. She never EVAH say die, and trust me, Tinne was VERY happy to take the match in 4. Remember the name. MALLIFF.

Tinne : That first game, I was actually feeling it physically, very very much. I think I was mostly relieved when I took the first game, it gave me a lot of confidence. But even though she was probably more tired than I was, she just doesn’t give up.

So I am there thinking that I can go short, but then she is there and she plays a winner, so I’m like, nope, please stick to your game plan, no matter what.

In the third, I was up, feeling well, and she came back, played some amazing shots, and I was like well, nothing I can do there.

So I tried and had a good start in the 4th, but I never felt confident on the court today, and that’s how she makes you feel.
