Day FOUR : Round THREE concludes

Round three continued today with eight quarter-final spots in the bottom half of the draws  claimed.

Three 9/16 seeds won through in the women’s matches, with Nele Gilis beating seventh seed Rowan Elaraby to join sister Tinne in the last eight. Salma Hany ended the run of Nada Abbas while second seed Nour El Sherbini eased through in three games.

Mazen Hesham produced the upset in the men’s matches as he ousted sixth seed Marwan elShorbagy in four quickfire games to set up a quarter-final repeat against defending champion Mostafa Asal, who beat Joel Makin in a lengthy three game affair. Mohamed ElShorbagy and Paul Coll were the other men’s victors.
